Our Rating Methodology
How we evaluate RAM products to help you make the best choice
At RamPriceCheck.com, we don't just compare prices โ we provide expert ratings to help you identify the best value products. Our scoring system is transparent, objective, and based on key performance and value factors.
The Rating Formula
Score = (Capacity รท Price) ร DDR Bonus ร Speed Bonus ร Relevance Bonus
Final Score = min(10.0, Raw Score ร 35.0)
Rating Factors Explained
1. Capacity-to-Price Ratio (Base Score)
The foundation of our rating: how much RAM capacity you get per dollar spent.
Example: 32GB at $160 = 0.200 GB/$ (better) vs 16GB at $100 = 0.160 GB/$ (worse)
2. DDR Generation Bonus
DDR5 delivers significantly better performance than DDR4 (2x bandwidth, better efficiency).
- DDR5: +30% bonus (ร1.3)
- DDR4: +10% bonus (ร1.1) โ still viable for budget upgrades in 2026
3. Speed Bonus
Higher speeds improve gaming FPS, rendering times, and overall system responsiveness.
- โฅ5600MHz: +15% bonus (ร1.15)
- <5600MHz: No bonus (ร1.0)
4. Relevance Capacity Bonus
Modern software requires adequate RAM. Our scoring reflects 2026 standards.
- 8GB: -15% penalty (ร0.85) โ obsolete for modern usage
- 16GB: Baseline (ร1.0) โ minimum standard
- 32GB: +15% bonus (ร1.15) โ sweet spot for gaming/production
- 64GB: +5% bonus (ร1.05) โ workstation/professional use

Real Example
Corsair Vengeance DDR5 32GB @ $160, 6000MHz
- Base: 32 รท 160 = 0.200 GB/$
- DDR5 Bonus: 0.200 ร 1.3 = 0.260
- Speed Bonus (6000MHz): 0.260 ร 1.15 = 0.299
- Relevance (32GB): 0.299 ร 1.15 = 0.344
- Normalization: 0.344 ร 35.0 = 12.04
- Final Score: min(10.0, 12.04) = 10.0/10 ๐
